The Battle Against Evil

Scripture: Ephesians 6:11-18 KJV
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
What Do We Truly Battle?
As a Christian we live a somewhat different life than a non-believer. While we all fear physical pain, or we all feel emotional distress, for ourselves, and for others; but we as believers have a perception of an even more threatening power, the power of evil entity’s in the spiritual world. Men have often been deceived by these evils before:
1. Adam ate the fruit leading to the loss of Eden.
2. Abraham & Sarah took matters into their own hands and brought Ishmael into the world, leading to one of our biggest issues today.
3. The spies had too little faith, so that only 2 of the twelve could see the Lord’s plan to take over the promised land.
4. Judas did not recognize who Jesus really was.
And there are many other stories of non-faith in the faithful one, and belief in the power of man.
The importance of recognizing the true power of evil, rather than the weak power of the man doing wrong because of the evil is increasingly important in today’s society of lies and counter lies, of hate and fear because of unknowns.
One of the trite sayings we heard in the recent political backstabbing is (from one side) “Guns kill people.” (And from the other side) “Guns do not kill people, people kill people.” (I think) that in truth both are missing the point…”Evil controlling the hearts of people kills people.”
So we need to put on the correct armor, not to block swords, or bullets, or bombs or even germs; but rather to block and fight the spiritual battle against evil.
Peace and love to all!
