False Prophets Matthew 7:15-20 KJV
“ of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
The danger of false prophets is demonstrated in many different parts of the Bible, from the serpent in the Garden, to the False Prophet of Revelation. Whenever God spoke to man, or through other men, there were always a number of neigh sayers to distract, to confuse, or to attack God’s Word. We see this today also as we look at men Deifying or Vilifying those that agree or disagree with their party, their agenda or their belief. So many disagreements are really between two false Prophets.
Below, are a few verses on which we can define and understand God’s view:
How do we recognize a False Prophet?
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
Deuteronomy 18:22 KJV
What is the danger of a False Prophet?
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”
Matthew 24:11 KJV
What is the fate of a False Prophet?
“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.”
Deuteronomy 18:20 KJV
“Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The Lord hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie. Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the Lord. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.”
Jeremiah 28:15-17 KJV
