Expecting the Millennial Kingdom

Isaiah 35:5-10 KJV

“Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes. And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”

This is a description of the Millennial Kingdom!

5. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. [This is literal and figurative…This will be a time of joy and healing both spiritually (the Lord will be physically present) and physically (bodies will once again live the many hundreds of years they lived before the flood.)]

6. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart [like a rabbit], and the tongue of the dumb sing [for joy]: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

7. And the parched ground [ this is literally a mirage (Hebrew, Sharab, ‘the sun’s heat’) shall become a real lake][1] shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons [most likely jackals], where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

8. And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. [Again, both figuratively and literally predicted. The holiness of God will purify this highway, but also there will be a literal highway leading to the new Temple of God.]

9. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: [There shall be nothing to fear on this highway, both due to Jesus’ spiritual protection and his physical presence.]

10. And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” [Literally this refers to the return of the people from exile, this is also a prophesy of the physical return of God’s people (the Jews) and his “grafted in” people (the Gentiles of God’s Church to come)]

We should therefore look forward to the Millennial Kingdom with great excitement!
